Old school tattoo designs: the facts

Tattoos come in lots of shapes and sizes and folks have been bearing them for many, many years. For lots of people, ‘tattoos’ are thought of as the age-old or long-established design of ink found in history novels. Such designs have withstood the test of time and are a great supply of ideas to draw on when you are planning tattoo ideas for you.

People who have old school tattoos wear them for many reasons. For a few, they suggest a symbol of convention (whether of their loved ones, friends or profession). As such, there’s a impression of familiarity and cosiness from such markings. For others, the marking signifies being part of a specific crowd.

Old school tattoo designs also show history. Maybe the wearer had favorite novels or cartoons whilst growing up which introduced them to a particular tattoo; maybe the wearer wants to identify with a particular group or historical period.

Most of the more traditional tattoos are bright, jolly and full of color. Due to this, loads of people wear them because they are fun looking.

Presently, lots of folks who make the decision to be inked with old school designs do so with a sense of irony. In spite of this, this does not have to be so. Being inked with an old school tattoo on your lower back is a straightforward method of combining then and now – the tattoo may be traditional, but its positioning brings the tattoo bang up to date.

Sea-themed designs are popular. They include tattoos of, for example, anchors, stars and mermaids. Anchors are a cool addition due to their curvaceous shape. In addition, it is possible to have pictures (perhaps your own in the event of relationship-breakdown!) included in the tattoo. Stars are brilliant too, because they can be shaped to trace the curves of your lower back. A mermaid is a great design to showing your femininity, and exploiting the long hair of the mermaid to enclose the bottom of your back.

Birds of flight are also making a comeback. They can be located in the centre of your lower back facing face on if you would prefer a symmetrical tattoo, or positioned slightly off-centre to incorporate a magnificent plunge; it is up to you. A flying eagle shows heroism and force, and a blueish swallow demonstrates a homecoming and new life.

There are also many morbid tattoo designs you might like to think about. The most morbid would be the skull. It has been a sign of danger and fatality. Perhaps you could include some flowers to make it more lighthearted? Further, the grim-reaper is becoming popular, but there’s no reason to not personalize that one also. Further, there’re the usual dagger and barbed wire tattoos. Funnily enough, a design which uses barbed wire could be perfect for your lower back because of rounded nature of the wire.

Adoration is a constant symbol used in tattoos, whether of the heart or the name of a partner or of a rose. A horseshoe tattoo demonstrates good luck and fortune.

There are loads of old school tattoo designs out there, so spend a fair bit of time researching and deciding which ones appeal to you, then think about whether you want to alter it to make it ideal for yourself. They have withstood the test of time, so take advantage of that!
